Route book

Every Space Invader in Paris, in the shortest walkable order.

One continuous line through the twenty arrondissements, cut into stages you can load on a watch. Distances follow real footpaths; times assume you stop at every wall to flash it.

Numbered pins mark where each stage starts, F the finish. Grey digits are arrondissements. Dots are the walls; hover one to read its code. Hover or press a stage in the legend to isolate it.

Stages

Each stage ends at a wall and the next one starts from that same wall, so the split costs no extra distance. Cue sheets list every stop with the leg from the previous wall and the running total.

Preparation

What the estimate assumes, and what to sort out before the attempt.

Assumptions

Before the attempt

  • Refresh the statuses the week before. invadrun spotter --refresh pulls the latest state of every wall from invader-spotter.art; destroyed and hidden walls drop out of the route on the next run. Anything else goes in data/exclusions.txt.
  • Put the pins on your phone. Import invadrun-poi.kml into Organic Maps: one pin per place, coloured by stage, with the picture of each invader so you know what you are looking for.
  • Load one GPX per stage on the watch and keep the full track on the phone. Stage files are listed at the bottom of this page.
  • Budget phone battery for FlashInvaders. Every wall is a photo with GPS and mobile data on; a power bank per stage is not optional.
  • Record the evidence. A continuous GPS track per stage, the app's flash timestamps, and a photo at the first and last wall are what a fastest-known-time claim rests on.
  • Plan the return from each stage end. Stages finish at a wall, not at a station; note the nearest métro before you go.
  • Stay a pedestrian. A few walls sit on bridges or beside the périphérique. The route only uses footpaths, but the last metres to the wall are yours to judge.

Files

GPX tracks carry the street geometry as a track and every wall as a named waypoint.
